CHARON Name New Album
June 2, 2005Finnish goth-metallers CHARON have set "Songs for the Sinners" as the title of their new full-length album, the group's singer, Juha-Pekka Leppäluoto, revealed during a recent interview with MetalPigeon.com. The follow-up to 2003's "The Dying Daylights" is tentatively due on August 31 via Spinefarm Records. A single, "Ride on Tears", will precede the album on August 3. A couple of excerpts from the MetalPigeon.com interview follow:
MetalPigeon.com: You have just finished recording a new album and the studio diary on the CHARON website suggested that the whole process seemed to go well. Did you record it fairly quickly?
Juha-Pekka Leppäluoto: "Yes. It was an easy session and fast for us. We didn't want to spend any more time at the studio than we had to. Spending too much time in the studio just kills the touch from the songs."
MetalPigeon.com: How have you progressed as a band on this album?
Juha-Pekka Leppäluoto: "All songs are made by playing with the band as much as possible so it has welded us together more than we ever expected. Also another level of self-confidence came up while trying some things at the album..."
MetalPigeon.com: Do you have a title for the new album yet and how many tracks will be on it?
Juha-Pekka Leppäluoto: "We recorded 13 tracks and 10 of them will be at the album. Leftovers will be single bonuses. After hard thinking (wouldn't guess...) we managed to find the keyline for all of the songs and ended up naming the album as 'Songs for the Sinners'."
CHARON entered Finnvox Studios in Helsinki in February with producer Mikko Karmila to begin recording their new album.
Back in April 2004, CHARON named FOR MY PAIN… guitarist Lauri Tuohimaa the permanent replacement for Jasse Von Hast, who left the group in November 2003.
